Were the Best Team in the World - Mount Reaction as Chelsea Beat Manchester City in the Champions League Final
Report as Chelsea Beat Manchester City 1-0 to Be Crowned Champions of Europe
Kai Havertz's First-Half Strike Seals Chelsea's Second Champions League Triumph
Chelsea are the champions of Europe once again after beating Premier League rivals Manchester City 1-0 in an all-English Champions League final in Porto. Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the game in the first half as Thomas Tuchel's side continued their remarkable turnaround in fortunes since the German took charge in January. City, who were bidding to win the Champions League for the first time, were largely disappointing and never really looked like getting back into the game after Havertz's strike. The win gives Chelsea their second Champions League title, following their triumph in 2012, and makes Tuchel the first German manager to win the competition. It is also a remarkable achievement for Havertz, who has now scored the winning goal in two major finals for Chelsea, having also netted the winner in the FA Cup final against Leicester City earlier this season. After the game, Havertz said: "It's an amazing feeling. We're the best team in the world." Tuchel added: "I'm so proud of my players. They showed great character and determination." City manager Pep Guardiola said: "We didn't play our best today. Chelsea deserved to win."
